A quick abstract to Leech/2 V1.20 - Please refer to Leech.INF for details...

 WHAT IS LEECH?

Leech is a reliable, high-quality Compact Disc Digital Audio (CD-DA) to
Wave/Raw grabber for OS/2, featuring advanced de-jittering capabilities.
Leech thus enables you to digitally transfer audio data from an audio CD
directly to your harddrive, without any degrading of the audio signal due
to sampling. All you need is a CD-ROM drive (and corresponding device
drivers) capable of transferring audio data; a drive/driver that supports
the so-called "READ LONG" IOCTL API call, that is. (Leech does not use nor
    require MMOS2).

So far, Leech is a small (but very versatile) VIO program, but a separate
"bells and whistles" PM edition is in the making! :-) (A future you might
    help shape by your feedback!)

WHY IS LEECH BETTER THAN ALL THOSE OTHER GRABBERS?

Well, basically because of its de-jittering algorithm. My inclination for
writing Leech was that my own CD drive jitters quite heavily when
grabbing, and much to my annoyment I found out that - apparently - no OS/2
grabbers had any form of de-jittering. Consequently, I had to use DOS
grabbers, which was totally unacceptable to me (even though they ran just
fine under OS/2); I run the /best/ operating system, so I do /not/ want to
run lotek applications for a system from the days of yore. For this reason
Leech was developed; a versatile grabber with very efficient de-jittering.
The de-jittering is /essential/ to ensure good grabs; even good drives jit
a little bit from time to time! And perhaps (?) best of all:
    Leech is CardWare!

CAN I MAKE MPEG-3 FILES WITH LEECH?

Yes, you can; or rather, Leech is one part of what you need. Besides the
    CD to WAV/RAW grabbing done by Leech you need an MPEG Layer III encoder;
the author recommends Fraunhofer's L3Enc/2 for this job. These two
programs are all you need to start transferring all your CDs to your
harddrive in MP3 format! (And run out of disk space in a day... .-)

So... With Leech you can be sure to make perfect grabs, if it is at all
possible on your drive. Even in very bad conditions, you can tune Leech's
de-jittering parameters to end up with a perfect grab.
Give Leech a try - you won't be disappointed!
