NOTE: this software has been subjected to a treatment the director (ahem, the
copyright holder) has not consented. I decline any kind of responsibility...
I won't be held liable for any reason.. you know the standard legalese, which
I'm not used to (I'm no native english speaker if anyone hasn't noticed
yet).
So, in simple words, it's all up to you. If the software is illegal, immoral,
in your country don't bother me: Throw it in the shredder, instead!

	New?!?
	------

Don't worry, nothing is really new. This one has two bugs fixed... the Mute and
Lock buttons weren't working. Also, I've added a little icon (no, it doesn't
show up in the system menu).
In the bundle you'll find an ESS938 controller, too.
These changes were requested by Aglaja Przyborski, who also mailed me the icon.

	Important note
	--------------

I hold not the sources for this mixer, so there's little left to hope in terms
of new features... and even if I had the code, I don't think I will spend more
time on it.

	What???
	------

the ESS1868 AudioDrive MiniMixer is a compact PM mixer for audio cards featuring
the ESS1868 audio chip by EssTech, Inc.

It is basically a hacked version of PMMixer by J. Hoppenbrouwers, so there is
nothing new under the sky.

I have hacked the graphical appereance by removing useless controls and packing
the others more tight, so it wastes much less screen space.

Please note that this mixer is NOT a MMPM/2 mixer:
It works by interfacing with the ESS mixer hardware so you may face strange
behaviours if you don't set the aggressive option from the system menu.

When the mixer is open and has engaged the aggressive mode, you lose the ability
to set the volume by MMPM/2 controls (i.e. the volume bar on PM123).

The ESS938 went under my micronizing tool, too... nothing else was changed.

	Why???
	------

Well, it'when Gravis left the audio card business and Sander van Leeuwen quit
the development of the Manley drivers, I lost hope in getting some nasty bugs.

So I went out and bought this cheap ESS card, and while the drivers are shipped
with Merlin, I found no mixer inside. So I grabbed this old mixer by Hoppie
(who deserves big thanks for his work) and hacked it in a form that is more
suitable to my desktop.

Now I've written this short readme file and I've put all the stuff in a pack
that I'm gonna to upload to Hobbes.

End of the story: use it if you like it, forget it if it sucks.
