<center><h3>Welcome to the IBM OS/2 Warp Developer Kit, Java(TM) Technology
Edition, Version 1.1.8!</h3></center>

<p>
The IBM(R) OS/2(R) Warp Developer Kit, Java Technology Edition, Version 1.1.8 (Developer Kit)
consists of the following components:
<ul>
<li>Runtime Component, including Internationalization Support
<li>Toolkit Component
<li>Samples Component
<li>RMI-IIOP Toolkit Component
<li>Interactive Code Analysis Tool (ICAT) Debugger
<li>Times New Roman MT 30 Unicode Font Component
</ul>

<p>
<b>Runtime Component</b><br>
The Runtime component is required to run Java applications and applets.
Internationalization Support, included as part of the Runtime component,
provides base OS/2 support for displaying Unicode characters. To use any
component other than Toolkit Documentation, you must install the Runtime
component. See
<a href="runtime.htm">Runtime Environment</a> for more information.
</p>

<p>
<b>Toolkit Component</b><br>
The Toolkit component contains tools and documentation for developing
your own Java applications and applets. General information on the
Toolkit can be found in
<a href="toolkit.html">Development Environment</a>. See
<a href="docs/api/API_users_guide.html">Java API documentation</a>
for specific details.</p>

<p>
<b>Samples Component</b><br>
The Samples component contains sample source code and byte code
compiled class files. The Samples component can be installed and run
without installing the Toolkit component, but you cannot modify and
compile the sample source code without the Toolkit component. To modify
and compile the sample source code, you must install the Toolkit component.
</p>

<p>
<b>RMI-IIOP Toolkit Component</b><br>
The RMI-IIOP Toolkit Component contains the tools and documentation
used to develop Java applications that can communicate over the CORBA
standard IIOP protocol. This technology allows your Java applications
to interact with any other CORBA ORBs.
</p>

<p>
<b>ICAT Debugger Component</b><br>
The ICAT Debugger provides you with a powerful source-level debugger
that allows you to easily diagnose errors in your Java applications
running on an OS/2 Warp system. General information on ICAT can be found in
<a href="icatjava/help/icatjava.htm">ICAT Debugger</a>.
</p>

<p>
<b>Times New Roman MT 30 Unicode Font Component</b><br>
The Times New Roman MT 30 Unicode Font component can be installed
on OS/2 Warp 4 systems; it can be installed on OS/2 Warp Server systems
only if FixPak 30 or higher has been applied.</p>

<p>
Be sure to read the
README
file for the latest information. The README file is in the <B>x:\JAVA11</B> directory,
where <B>x</B> is the drive where the Java Runtime component is installed.
